We have been nominated in the following categories:
Best Place to Work
Committed to creating a supportive and flexible work environment, our people-first culture lies at the heart of our company’s success. Initiatives like our neurodiverse cover extension, fertility leave, and support for carers earned recognition from the judges, who praised our ‘strong employee support’.
Employees benefit from professional growth opportunities, averaging seven days of training per year per employee, reinforcing our commitment to growth and retention. Judges noted that there is an ‘emphasis on personal development’ and that our ‘purpose-driven work is commendable’.
Impact in Water and Environment
With a legacy in climate resilience, we have contributed significantly to national industry standards, including the development of the National Coastal Erosion Risk Map and the International Handbook on Emergency Management for Flood Defences. The judging panel applauded our ‘use of innovative mapping and coastal improvement’ as this demonstrates ‘strong contributions to flood risk management’.
Our involvement in projects like the
Southsea Coastal Scheme and
Bacton Sandscaping has showcased how we are helping to protect communities from coastal erosion and flooding. Through our FloodScore Climate data, we are also helping businesses like
BT Plc and Lloyds Banking Group to ensure they are prepared for future climate challenges.
Impact in Energy
As a key player in the renewable energy transition, we have significantly contributed to offshore wind projects across the UK, including preparing submissions for Development Consent Orders (DCOs) for Dogger Bank South, Morecambe and North Falls.
We have also supported the consent of
Green Volt, Scotland’s first floating offshore wind farm, and the design of the Princess Elisabeth Island, the world’s first energy island, which won the
2024 Offshore Wind Gamechanger Award. Judges noted that this award submission showed ‘impressive growth’ within this field of work.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
Central to Royal HaskoningDHV’s approach is our Enhancing Society Together (EST) framework which ensures projects create measurable, positive impacts in key areas like climate change, biodiversity, resource circularity, social value, and safety. Judges highlighted how our ‘Purpose Matrix is an interesting tool for assessing sustainability’. This is further supported by wider initiatives, such as the in-house EST Academy and leadership training.
Our efforts in this area also led to a Platinum rating from EcoVadis, placing us in the top 1% of over 130,000 companies assessed for sustainability globally.
Following the shortlist announcement, we will move forward in the awards process, presenting to a live panel of judges in May.
Jon Robinson added: “Advancing to the next stage of the awards process is an exciting opportunity to showcase the impact of our projects to the judging panel. Regardless of the outcome, being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has played a part in this success.”
The award winners will be announced at this year’s NCE Awards ceremony on the 3rd of July 2025 at Hilton Bankside in London.
