New global landmark 100MW data centre in Amsterdam Westpoort

The Westpoort data centre, developed by Caransa Groep BV, will be a global landmark of a data centre integrated in the city ecosystem. Highly energy-efficient, it aligns with the city’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in 2025. One of the key ways of achieving this is through the supply of heat to residential areas.

Amsterdam is one of three top data centre hubs in Europe, with demand expected to continue to grow in coming years. To meet this demand, Caransa Group BV is planning a new data centre, which will be connected to the city by delivering heat to residential areas. The new building is also designed to be repurposed, enabling it to have a second use beyond its lifetime as data centre.

Caransa Groep BV involved Royal HaskoningDHV as technical advisor, drawing on our data centre expertise. This ensures the latest ideas and innovations on data centre design, flexibility and future proofing are incorporated alongside the data centre infrastructure capacity, reliability, safety and logistics.
