Team meets challenging schedule without compromising cost or quality
The main challenge facing our team was a very tight delivery time. Production trials had been arranged just seven months after the start of construction. To meet the challenge, our team produced a fast-track schedule and awarded the PESB (Pre-engineering steel building) package contract in advance. This meant detailed engineering and fabrication could start before the construction package had been awarded to the main contractor. Once the concrete foundation had been cast, the steel structure and roof were ready for installation. The site team and contractor worked two shifts daily, seven days a week to meet the required deadlines.
In spite of procurement delays to achieve the best offer for our client, we met all the deadlines, and the production trial test took place as arranged. Quality and costs were carefully managed throughout the process and construction safety was high, achieving more than 475,000 hours with no lost time incidents.
