Greenfield beverage factory meets international standards to attract global brands
DenEast offers multi-product manufacturing for brands requiring the highest international quality assurance standards for their packaged foods and beverages. The company was launching its services into the Vietnamese market with a 5-hectare greenfield milk and soft drinks factory. Royal HaskoningDHV was contracted to provide full EPCM services.

It was important for the facility to meet international safety, hygiene and quality standards in order to attract customer orders. Our work included sourcing local materials to meet the quality and hygiene requirements at the right price. Input from experts at our global centre of excellence in the Netherlands was useful for analysing contractor samples and materials, as well as in developing technical solutions before construction started.

Team meets challenging schedule without compromising cost or quality

The main challenge facing our team was a very tight delivery time. Production trials had been arranged just seven months after the start of construction. To meet the challenge, our team produced a fast-track schedule and awarded the PESB (Pre-engineering steel building) package contract in advance. This meant detailed engineering and fabrication could start before the construction package had been awarded to the main contractor. Once the concrete foundation had been cast, the steel structure and roof were ready for installation. The site team and contractor worked two shifts daily, seven days a week to meet the required deadlines.

In spite of procurement delays to achieve the best offer for our client, we met all the deadlines, and the production trial test took place as arranged. Quality and costs were carefully managed throughout the process and construction safety was high, achieving more than 475,000 hours with no lost time incidents.
