2024 Scottish Green Energy Awards.

Royal HaskoningDHV has played a key development support role in establishing Scotland’s position as a leader in green energy. The awards, which took place on 5th December in Edinburgh, is one of the largest celebrations of renewable energy, and recognised outstanding contributions to Scotland’s renewable energy sector.

Harnessing the power of wind

We have been instrumental in supporting the development of over 10GW of offshore wind and tidal capacity in Scotland. From pioneering early projects to driving forward some of the world’s largest floating and fixed wind developments for ScotWind, we have helped pave the way for a more sustainable future in the region. Most recently our team has successfully supported the consent of Green Volt, the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm to be approved in Scotland.

Ruth Henderson, associate director at Royal HaskoningDHV, said: “We are incredibly proud that the continued impact we have made on Scotland’s renewable energy sector has been recognised with this award. It underscores our commitment to enhancing society by accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future through innovative, sustainable solutions. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Royal HaskoningDHV, past and present, whose dedication and expertise has made this possible – it's our full intention to continue our leading role through the continued expansion of the marine renewables sector in Scotland, the UK, and globally.”

Our leadership in these landmark projects has been crucial to their success, providing expert support in design, engineering, and regulatory processes. This has underpinned timely and efficient delivery, which are integral to Scotland’s ambitious renewable energy goals.

Ruth Henderson added: “In all of the projects we help deliver, we are conscious of the key risks and common issues. That is why we have taken the lead on strategic ornithology compensation measures on behalf of a consortium of ScotWind developers, the findings of which have been published in the 2024 Development of Ornithology Regional Compensation Measures report and will play a key role in supporting future offshore wind applications in Scotland.”

Building the foundations for success

We know that building a green energy future involves creating the infrastructure to support it. Our ongoing strategic port and grid connection studies are helping shape Scotland’s Supply Chain Development Plans, helping to guide key decisions that will drive growth of the sector. Through our collaboration with developers and government agencies on port infrastructure and O&M bases, we have further strengthened the supply chain to ensure that Scotland remains at the forefront of green energy.

This year’s Scottish Green Energy Awards saw the UK’s largest celebration of green energy to date. The awards celebrated the inspirational organisations, people, and projects making a real difference in Scotland’s energy future. For more information: https://www.scottishrenewables.com
