Royal HaskoningDHV receives SBTi approval on net-zero targets

SBTi comments: “Your net-zero target is currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process.“

Our net-zero commitment will reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with the Science Based Targets initiative supporting the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5° C compared to pre-industrial levels. The commitment will be met through the following measures:

• A reduction of scope 1 & 2 global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from mainly offices by 95% by 2030 and 100% by 2050, from a 2019 base year. We also commit to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 80% in 2019 to 100% by 2030.
• A reduction of scope 3 global greenhouse gas (GHG) business travel related emissions by 67% within the same time frame.

The approved science-based targets can also be found in the SBTi approval letter and SBTi certificate.

Direct emissions reductions (decarbonisation) will be prioritised, and all residual emissions (max 10%) will be neutralized (if applicable) in line with SBTi criteria before reaching net-zero emissions.

To get to net-zero within our global operations we are taking the following steps:

• We stop using fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy.
• We look to extend our 100% electric car fleet beyond the Netherlands and switch to 100% electric rental cars where possible.
• We motivate employees to drive electric and choose sustainable transport where possible.
• We fly only when essential and opt for the lowest carbon flight option.
