A nice aspect of my job has always been that I can help the client from start to end. In the conceptual phase, I investigate what they are looking for, what they need and what does fit the best. The best generated ideas come to life.

A lot of variety and freedom in my job

“In my role as a consultant Industrial Automation, I work with a lot of colleagues within different disciplines. Over time, I have worked on installations for pharmaceutical, food & beverage and light chemicals clients. But it does not stop in one business unit. As long as you are curious, you can make a difference in other places in the organisation. This means you can create impact with their clients as well. For example, I have been involved in data centre projects, railways, tunnels and other infrastructure projects and still do when something challenging presents itself.”

“A nice aspect of my job has always been that I can help the client from start to end. In the conceptual phase, I investigate what they are looking for, what they need and what does fit the best. The best generated ideas come to life. I have multiple projects at the same time, being in various phases from an initial idea to a handover of a new installation. My projects can be both monodisciplinary and multidisciplinary. Also, I frequently go to site to inspect electrical control panels, field equipment, etc. The most interesting for me is that you can learn new things every day, from colleagues, clients, contractors and suppliers.”

A big networking organisation

“It is great to be constantly inspired by others within Royal HaskoningDHV. I am not an expert on civil engineering for example, but I do learn from my fellow colleagues what they are doing in their projects and what their challenges are. These chats are often casual. We also organise knowledge sessions and learning weeks. That is very inspiring. When you have specific challenges within a project, you always have colleagues around as a sparring partner. That feels comfortable.”

Room to step up and grow

“During my career at Royal HaskoningDHV, I notice you have a lot of opportunities to grow. By networking and trying out you can grow in new roles such as in the field of line management or project management. And if you would like to be a specialist after all, you can fully develop yourself as well. For myself, I have found out that the role as a consultant fits me the best.”
