Meet Stephanie, Tender Desk Manager at NACO

Our colleague Stephanie grew up in Colombia and lived for a while in Spain. Having a study background in Finance and International Relations, Stephanie already gained valuable experience with tenders in the software and banking industry. To apply her expertise in a new and dynamic world, Stephanie moved to the Netherlands in the beginning of 2022 to join NACO in Den Haag. My role as a Tender Desk Manager

“Since this was the first time working in the aviation industry, it felt like a challenge for me. Even though I am familiar with the tender process, I had to dive into a new and exciting industry. Personally speaking, I think this gave me the opportunity to learn very quickly about a new topic that I find really interesting.

In my role as the Tender Desk Manager, I was appointed to set up the tender library for NACO, this involved things like defining the tender process. When, for example, an airport wants to launch a project, they release a tender in which they specify what type of services they are looking for. I am supporting the proposal managers by providing a variety of documents on how we can provide these services. When we win the tender, the project manager will initiate the project. It is very nice that I could shape my role and execute the Tender Desk project creatively, which I really like.”

Fulfilling activities in my role

“The most fulfilling I achieved in my job so far is to set up a self-service library where people can go to and find all the information they need for a tender in an easy way. At the start, it did not feel like a big task until I was in the middle of it. Recently, we launched the library and tested it with a small group. The response was very positive because of its usefulness. I am happy that I could contribute to organize essential documents such as legal information, project references and client satisfaction letters.”

International opportunities in Colombia

“In addition to my role as a Tender Desk Manager, I am also involved in business development activities in Colombia. This makes my job very diverse while also getting the opportunity to go to my home country Colombia once in a while. Until now, I have participated in two business trips to Colombia in which we visited different entities we think could be interested, to pitch our services. It is great to do business in my own country in which I connect to the Colombian people with the same culture and business ethics as me.”

The diverse atmosphere with appreciation from others

“Royal HaskoningDHV is a very big organization which is very interesting to work for. There are a lot of disciplines covered in-house which gives me the opportunity to learn a lot and exchange knowledge. I also like the diversity within the organisation with a lot of nationalities. Integrating with a lot of cultures is a big plus for me. To close off, my team at NACO has always been very supportive to me. My ideas are always listened and valued.”
