Join NACO as a Medior/Senior Security Specialist for Airport Security Design

We are seeking a specialist with strong expertise in electronic security systems; airport‑sector experience is preferred but not essential—we will help you master airport security requirements quickly. Do you have a decade of hands‑on experience with security systems and the drive to coordinate complex designs with clients, architects, and regulators? In this role you will lead the definition, specification, and integration of electronic security solutions that safeguard passenger flow and operational continuity at airports worldwide.

What you do as a Medior/Senior Airport Security System Design Specialist

Working as part of NACO’s Special Airport Systems group, you translate high‑level security objectives into coordinated system designs. On a typical project you will analyse stakeholder requirements, draft functional specifications, and develop layouts, equipment schedules, and interface diagrams for access control, identity management, CCTV and video analytics, passenger and staff screening lanes (body scanners, X‑ray/CT, explosive trace detection), and the overarching security management information system. You liaise daily with architects, structural and MEP engineers, baggage system specialists, and IT teams to embed security functionality seamlessly in the overall airport design. During procurement you prepare tender dossiers, evaluate technical submissions, and guide the client through vendor selection. You supervise factory and site acceptance testing, resolve non‑conformities, and support commissioning until hand‑over. Throughout the process you mentor junior engineers and maintain direct communication with airport operators, regulators, and local authorities to ensure compliance with ICAO, ECAC, and TSA standards.

About the team

NACO is the world’s leading airport consultancy and engineering firm, headquartered in the Netherlands and active on projects across every continent. You will join a close‑knit, multidisciplinary team that designs terminal buildings, airside facilities, and special systems for airports ranging from regional hubs to major international gateways. Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development are central values in our daily work.

What you bring

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Security Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and have at least ten years of experience designing, integrating, or maintaining electronic security systems, including access‑control infrastructure.
  • Experience with Leading Security System suppliers. You are familiar with IP‑based video, industry‑standard access‑control protocols, and general network design principles.
  • You are comfortable leading design‑coordination meetings, supervising tests, and travelling internationally for short site visits.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of BIM tools and professional security certifications is beneficial but not mandatory.
