Building this ‘transferium’ was the first step in the redevelopment of Barneveld-Noord railway station and vicinity.
A parking garage and a pedestrian bridge are combined inside one volume that lifts from the earth, turns and elegantly crosses the tracks.
The unity of the two elements is enhanced by the continuation of the double height of the bridge into the garage. A powerful layered façade, with two parallel lines of aluminum tubes in various diameters, surrounds the composition.
On the other side the ‘platform square’, with its robust materials, strongly contrasts with the adjacent wetland and forest vegetation.
