The newly built Geinboogbrug connects the Gaasp and the Gein rivers, as its predecessors have done since the beginning of the previous century. All through the years, this small bridge has been an important landmark for local residents and recreational sailors who would make the passage from the wide banks of the Gaasp to the green and lush banks of the Gein.

The new bridge carries a complex infrastructural junction in the form of a slow traffic roundabout whereby safety for motorized as well as bicycle traffic is given the highest priority. Furthermore, the structure of the bridge is complex as unobstructed waterflow under the bridge must be guaranteed.

The details and materials of the bridge are a reference to the historic qualities of the site but are a modern interpretation, using the latest masonry, casting and steel forming techniques.
