The shareholders of Eneco, a group of Dutch cities, have put the sustainable energy company up for sale in 2019 by means of a structured tender. Japanese companies Mitsubishi and Chubu were one of the international groups of bidders. The tender balanced qualitative and quantitative criteria in a two-step tender process: non-binding bid for all pre-selected bidders, binding bid for 3 selected bidders.

Eneco is a utility company with a turnover of 4 billion € with a diverse asset base focusing on sustainable energy for the industry and the built environment.
