Jeroen Overbeek and Tom Ossieur will be discussing the topic of Ports of the Future in a changing environment, main challenges and opportunities at the Port Authority of Thailand International Conference, taking place in Bangkok on 22 and 23 August.

The seminar will be attended by high-level representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Customs, terminal operators, shipping lines and shippers.

Tom Ossieur, Principal Consultant at Ocean Shipping Consultants, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV, will talk about the main challenges ports and shipping companies are facing in a dynamic environment and the opportunities they offer. He commented: “The challenges for ports in a rapidly changing environment range from changing trades, over infrastructural changes to sustainability. Technology, planning and partnering are offering a wide range of opportunities in response to those challenges. Indeed, we see more and more ports and terminals teaming up and increasing their efforts on dynamic planning, whilst taking advantage of new tools such as big data and automation.”
