WELLBEING CERTIFICATES WELL BUILDING STANDARD AND FITWEL
Studies have shown that a healthier and pleasant working environment contributes to the performance of employees. A great workplace adds value for your people and your business across many dimensions. The effects of healthy buildings & work environments are scientifically proven, backed up with comprehensive data. Companies are pioneering with certified healthy buildings.
The WELL Building Standard and Fitwel are certification methods that focus on health and wellbeing of building users, guests and employees. We provide support and guidance in the process of creating healthier work environments, using healthy building standards for certification, and also as a reference for bespoke guidelines.
WELL Building Standard
The WELL Building Standard focuses on the health of occupants and is based on years of scientific research. It is an integrated approach to health and wellbeing, created around 10 WELL concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community. Within these 10 concepts are more than 100 features – pre-conditions or optimisations - which are further divided into specific requirements. Our WELL APs (Accredited Professionals) can assist you in all phases, from quick scan or gap analysis to certification guidance.
Fitwel Certification is also based on scientific research but is less rigorous than WELL and focuses more on the less technical aspects of healthy buildings. In addition, it has fewer features relating to policy and human resources than WELL. This makes it a very suitable certification for existing buildings. Fitwel is not based on prerequisites, but only has optional credits. Fitwel has 12 sections: Location, Building Access, Outdoor Spaces, Entrances and Ground Floor, Stairs, Indoor Environment, Workspaces, Shared Spaces, Water Supply, Prepared Food Areas, Vending Machines and Snack Bars, and Emergency Preparedness. Our Fitwel Ambassadors are available to assist with your Fitwel certification process.
