Royal HaskoningDHV provides a global service backed by more than 40 years’ experience in the concept creation, design, engineering and building supervision of protected storage structures for hazardous fuel.
Our Protected Storage Engineering (PSE) team provides a highly-specialised service, from conception and design to final handover of prestressed storage facilities. We work with clients around the world to the highest international quality standards and safety regulations.
These prestressed concrete protection structures are used for the cryogenic storage of liquefied gasses such as butane, propane, ethylene and LNG, with storage capacities ranging from 60,000m3 to 240,000m3 of liquefied gas.
Our PSE team always hold safety as their prime consideration. As these structures are subject to high pressure and temperature loads it is essential to predict and control when crack development occurs. During design phase, our team simulates different loads on the tank to prove that it will be able to withstand various impacts in different scenarios.
Specialised software such as DIANA (international recognized FEA software tool) is used for the design and analysis of the structures to test the static and dynamic loading impact to the structures.
