Royal HaskoningDHV’s Sector Director for Renewable Energy Alistair Davison will share his considerable experience of the UK and European offshore wind industry at US Offshore Wind 2017 taking place this month.
Alistair Davison’s talk – ‘Permitting Risk - Issues, Approaches and Lessons Learned’ – draws on his experience from projects in the UK and Europe and considers the fundamental requirements for the process of developing a successful project assessment and permitting programme alongside a developing project design.
Speaking of the upcoming event, Alistair Davison said: “I am excited to be sharing Royal HaskoningDHV’s experience of the UK and Europe and giving our insights into the offshore wind industry. The US market is developing rapidly and whilst there are lessons to be learned from our experience so far in Europe, there are many areas where positive collaboration can benefit both the US and European offshore wind industry sector.
“We have a lot of experience in providing consenting and technical services to offshore wind projects, having provided consultancy services to 70% of major UK offshore wind development projects and provided lead EIA consultant services to 10,000MW of successfully consented offshore wind projects across Europe. This is an interesting time in the offshore wind industry after the largest offshore wind farm in the US was approved for construction earlier this year, and I look forward to meeting and hearing insights from colleagues around the world at the event.”
Royal HaskoningDHV was recently awarded an £8 million contract from ScottishPower Renewables to carry out environmental assessments for East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia TWO. In what is believed to be one of the largest agreements of its kind in the offshore wind industry, the hugely-important development could ultimately produce enough clean energy to power over four million homes.
Alistair Davison’s presentation takes place at 16:50 on 8th May during the US Offshore Wind 2017 Conference, taking place from May 8-9 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Long Island, NY, US.
The 2nd US Offshore Wind 2017 conference and expo is organised by Wind Energy Update, part of FCBI Energy Ltd. The annual event attracts the industry’s top offshore wind executives and developers from around the world hoping to learn of the latest developments in US regulations, technologies and development opportunities.
