Royal HaskoningDHV is in the frame for three national awards at this year’s NCE TechFest Awards. Taking place in September 2018, the event focuses on innovation and technology in the engineering sector. Royal HaskoningDHV’s nominations showcase the company’s Digital Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and its innovative Nereda® wastewater treatment solution.

The company has been selected as a finalist in ‘Best Use of Technology: Carbon Reduction’ for its work in establishing its innovative Nereda® technology in a new plant for Anglian Water. The technology reduces the carbon footprint of wastewater treatment by 25 per cent. This category is to be judged live at the TechFest event.

The second category in which Royal HaskoningDHV is recognised is the ‘Environmental Impact Award’. The company has been shortlisted for its pioneering work in creating digital Environmental Impact Statements. These use video, photos, infographics and interactive mapping to make information more transparent and understandable to a broad range of stakeholders.

Royal HaskoningDHV has also been selected for ‘Innovation of the Year: Water Systems’. This is for the full-scale trial of Nereda technology undertaken for the Environment Agency as part of Thames Water’s delivery of the national Chemical Investigation Programme. The trial seeks to demonstrate how effectively Nereda technology can improve wastewater treatment with higher levels of nutrient removal, whilst using half the power of conventional systems.

Casey Rutland, UK Digital Director at Royal HaskoningDHV commented: “The engineering industry is experiencing a digital revolution, which is opening up exciting new ways to collaborate and co-create throughout the industry. Exploring, driving and adopting the latest innovations is a key focus for Royal HaskoningDHV, so to be recognised as one of the leaders in our field is both encouraging and very rewarding.”

The awards form part of the NCE TechFest event, a festival of innovation and technology taking place in September which also features an agenda of presentations and an exhibition. Royal HaskoningDHV is proud to be a platinum partner of the event where Casey Rutland will facilitate a ‘fringe café’ debate on Embracing Big Data, alongside Royal HaskoningDHV’s exhibition stand.
