On the 22nd February Director of Ocean Shipping Consultants, Jason Chiang, will be the lead speaker at the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore on the impact of One Belt, One Road on shipping.
Impact of One Belt One Road on shipping
Proposed by China’s leader Xi Jinping, the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, known as the One Belt and One Road Initiative (OBOR) focuses on connectivity and cooperation between Eurasian countries, primarily the People's Republic of China, the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the oceangoing Maritime Silk Road.
Jason’s talk will explore the background to the OBOR, its key features, the major players, and how this initiative will affect the maritime industry.
Jason commented, “Even before the ‘One Belt, One Road’ term was coined, Royal HaskoningDHV has been working with Chinese companies. Since the launch of the One Belt, One Road initiative in 2014, we have worked with Chinese companies on port and infrastructure projects that lie along the Maritime Silk Road – including East Africa, Mediterranean, Baltic Sea, Arabian Gulf, South Asia and South-East Asia. We look forward to sharing our experiences at this event.”
