Nanco’s keynote speech will set the scene for a panel discussion focused on Smart water, smart cities: transformation in action and opportunities. Drawing on examples from Royal HaskoningDHV’s international experience in developing innovative tools to improve urban resilience, Nanco will outline the current and near-future global water challenges and the opportunities that are required to deliver water smart and climate resilient cities.
Nanco said: “Water challenges are at the heart of planning and delivering urban resilience. To ensure future cities are liveable, sustainable and productive, civil engineers need to be more water sensitive.
“New digital tools and developments will allow us to not only manage the extremes of water, but also to work with nature to embrace and harness the benefits of water. Water then becomes a way of looking at cities and at how to make them climate- and future-proof.”
Nanco will be speaking on 23rd May, 14.50-16.10 Panel 1: Smart water, smart cities: transformation in action and opportunities.
