Process Engineer

Main Responsibilities:
Execute sanitation and water related projects within
the local RHDHV framework of working. Focus areas will be on treatment works.
Role as Process Engineer in projects (with the
opportunity for project management functions on smaller projects (<R
500,000).
Provide ongoing support to the local water team, DAG,
Project Managers.
Provide technical support on municipal project work if
and when required.
Project/Business development work split: envisaged to
be 75% technical and 25% commercial.
Support business development initiatives, including
marketing, client site visits, client/project presentations, identifying local
challenges and opportunities, etc.
Preparing and execution of proposals and
tender/procurement documents.
Facilitate local knowledge transfer in the medium to
long term, this may include training new/junior staff on process tasks in
projects.
Develop strategy to engage and build relationships
with Municipal and private clients in the area of water treatment, water
management solutions.
Report on current water treatment technologies,
applications, industry trends and market approach.
Promoting the use of WAT products (such as Nereda®, Crystalactor®,
Biowatch) in industry.
Facilitate business development opportunities within
the treatment sector.
Minimum qualifications,
skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical engineering
Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng)/ Professional Technologist
(Pr Tech Eng)
Masters level in Chemical Engineering is advantageous
Minimum 10 years' experience in process engineering,
consulting, design, project management environment with (hands-on) operations
in water treatment, wastewater treatment and water management (including water
reuse and water efficiency) in a municipal environment.
Excellent knowledge of and experience with biological
and chemical (waste)water treatment technologies and their application.
Good understanding of industry practices, trends,
processes and standards, as well as their impact on project activities.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral
communication skills.
Have an established network within the industry.
Commercial/project management competencies/experience,
comfortable with playing a central role in both project acquisition and
execution, with excellent communication and influencing skills.
Practical hands on experience with:
Operation of a (waste)water treatment plant Lab tests
Pilot trials
Start-up, commissioning, plant operation
Experience in having undertaken feasibility studies in
wastewater and water treatment processes
Competent report writing skills and communication
ability
Proficiency with software packages such as: MS Word,
Excel, Powerpoint, MS Projects, simulation packages.
