Royal HaskoningDHV is committed to the development of the engineering industry in South Africa. We believe in nurturing and supporting talented young individuals to become future engineering leaders and we invest in the education of deserving students through our bursary programme.

Royal HaskoningDHV bursaries are awarded to deserving students who are studying towards BSc or BEng degrees in the fields of Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Students must be pursuing their studies at recognised South African universities that offer accredited engineering programmes.

The main criteria for consideration are academic potential and financial need.  In order to promote inclusion and diversity within the industry, preference will be given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds with a strong focus on females.  In addition, applicants must meet the following selection criteria:

Grade 12 Scholars

University Students (1st, 2nd and 3rd Year)

Valid South African I.D.

Valid South African I.D.

Subject choice must include Mathematics and Physical Science

National Senior Certificate or Equivalent

Proof of current academic results. A minimum aggregate of 65% is required. A symbol of 5 or above is required for Mathematics and Physical Science

Acceptance by accredited South African University

Registration at an accredited South African University

How to apply

Please complete our online bursary application form and attach the following supporting documents with your application:

  • South African I.D.
  • Grade 11 results (if you are in Grade 12)
  • Grade 12 results (if you are a university student)
  • Most recent academic results or progress report of all subjects (if no examinations were written)
  • Motivational essay
  • Payslips for your parent(s)/guardian if employed or tax return statement stating income
  • Latest financial statements if your parent(s)/guardian is/are unemployed
  • Sworn affidavits if your parent(s)/guardian is/are unemployed
  • Applications will only be considered if completed in full and if all supporting documents listed above have been submitted.

 The application process opens on 15 July and closes on 15 September 2018.
