As part of an asset deal, Royal HaskoningDHV is taking over all projects from the rail unit of Verebus Engineering in the Netherlands. Verebus’ rail employees are also joining the Royal HaskoningDHV team. This acquisition enables the company to strengthen its position within the growing rail market and completes its portfolio of rail expertise.
Anton van der Sanden, Director Royal HaskoningDHV Netherlands comments: ‘This acquisition means that we are now prepared for expected growth in the Netherlands rail market, driven by investments in sustainable mobility by government authorities and transport companies. We welcome the team of train signalling experts from Verebus. They complement our rail team and enable us to qualify for major, integrated rail projects. We can now offer train passengers and metro users a safe and reliable journey, whilst ensuring optimal use of infrastructure.’
All rail employees and projects will be seamlessly integrated into Royal HaskoningDHV's existing rail unit from 1 August 2018. The employees currently based in Rijswijk, Utrecht and Zwolle will move to new work locations in The Hague, Utrecht and Amersfoort.
Verebus is part of the German company TÜV NORD. For strategic reasons, TÜV NORD has decided to find a new owner for the Dutch rail activities. Ilan Staas, manager of the Verebus rail unit adds: ‘We are delighted that we will be joining an integrated rail team with every opportunity to expand, become involved in the company's digital transformation and work together on big, challenging rail projects.’
‘This fully complete rail team will initially focus on the Dutch market. In the longer term, the aim is to join forces with our local colleagues in the United Kingdom and South Africa,’ Van der Sanden concludes.
