Royal HaskoningDHV wishes to congratulate Eneco on winning the tender to develop the Maasvlakte 2 wind farm in the Netherlands. Royal HaskoningDHV partnered with Eneco for the tender process and will support Eneco in the coming years for the construction of the wind farm that will supply renewable energy for 25 years. This wind farm will be Eneco's largest onshore wind farm.

Eneco expects to start construction in 2022. This will ensure that the wind farm will start its 25 years of renewable energy supply no later than 2023. The new wind farm will produce roughly 416 GWh of electricity for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. This is enough meet the energy consumption of 138,000 households.

'We are proud to have worked on the winning tender and that we can continue on the development,' says Royal HaskoningDHV's project leader Erik Zigterman. 'This wind farm is a significant step towards achieving the climate agreement to ensure that 70% of all electricity in the Netherlands is sourced from renewable sources by 2030.'

Royal HaskoningDHV is designing the foundations and the ground works for the wind turbines. It will provide the input for the Dutch Water Act permit application and work on the logistics, HSE, and contracting.
