New logistics park helps enable future growth within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Royal HaskoningDHV has been appointed by the Saudi Trade and Export Development Company, Tusdeer, to provide the master planning and consulting engineering services for a new state-of-the-art logistics park in Jeddah.

Tusdeer is a leading logistics zone development company in Saudi Arabia where it has entered in a public–private partnership (PPP) agreement to develop the 634,000 m2 Tusdeer Khumra Logistics Park (TKLP) in the Al-Khumra district in south Jeddah.

The TKLP development promises to provide employment opportunities and boost the local economy. Royal HaskoningDHV and Tusdeer’s partnership will thus play a key role in the Kingdom’s Vision to ensure more diverse and sustainable socio-economic growth for the future.

The TKLP’s site plan includes a logistics hub, warehouses constructed to international standards equipped with the capacity for dry and cold storage, container storage, handling and accommodation for workers.

Royal HaskoningDHV has a strong pedigree working with both public and private sector clients in the Middle East and was assigned by Tusdeer to prepare the master plan and detailed construction documentation for this first phase of the logistics park build. Royal HaskoningDHV will provide design, development and utilities solutions for the TKLP.

Project Director Mr. Phil Eiszele at Tusdeer said: “The TKLP is a significant development for Jeddah as it will help to facilitate trade and commercial opportunities within Saudi Arabia. This private sector project will be developed in a series of stages over a seven year period, eventually becoming the largest integrated logistics park in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “

The development reflects the Government’s commitment to expanding private sector investment in strategic sectors such as logistics as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology which aims to ensure smooth and secure operations and reduce end-to-end transit time, the TKLP will facilitate the movement of all commodities into the Kingdom.

Jan Brouwer, Royal HaskoningDHV’s Director for Transport and Planning in the Middle East, said: “We are very proud to be working with Tusdeer on the master planning and construction planning for the Tusdeer Khumra Logistics Park. Our team has been recognised as one of the major players in providing integrated planning expertise in the Middle East since we started operating in the region in 1965. Our track record in delivering projects for public authorities and private enterprises like Tusdeer illustrates not only the strength and depth of our portfolio here in the Middle East but it also reaffirms our commitment and support to the region in its dynamic development.”

Mr. Phil Eiszele at Tusdeer commented, “We have a trusted partner in Royal HaskoningDHV, given their local knowledge and track record in operating here in the Middle East. Their innovative approach to master planning was apparent even in the first sessions where they came with well thought out ideas to improve and optimize the layout of TKLP, thus spurring new ideas to enhance the quality of the park. We look forward to a productive partnership with Royal HaskoningDHV in the development of the Tusdeer Khumra Logistics Park, a site that will be of great importance to Jeddah allowing us to facilitate trade and commercial opportunities with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
