Five years after the creation of the Dutch Sand Motor, the initial research results from this pilot project will be presented at an international Conference on 14 and 15 September 2016 in Scheveningen and Kijkduin, The Netherlands. Our colleague Jaap Flikweert will present ‘Sandscaping: A Sand Motor in the UK’.

The program covers results with respect to coastal safety, innovation, nature and recreation and includes speeches, interviews, an exhibition market, workshops and theme excursions. Policy makers, scientists and professionals will share knowledge at the national and international levels on ‘Building with Nature’ solutions for sandy coasts.

Jaap Flikweert, Director of Water Governance and Strategy Royal HaskoningDHV, UK will feature in the plenary program on the first day, presenting ‘Sandscaping: A Sand Motor in the UK.

On 15 September participants can join an excursion to the Sand Motor with expert guides.This conference is a joint initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (Rijkswaterstaat), the Province of South Holland, NatureCoast and EcoShape.
