Water authority Rivierenland is responsible for a major portion of The Netherlands’ water supply, handling a swathe of waterways and flood defences from Nijmegen, near the German border, to the UNESCO World Heritage site at Kinderdijk in the west.
The water board’s leaders wanted to transform the organisation, taking a more data-driven approach to waterway management, flood prevention, and water quality control. But that meant taking a new approach that required more skilled IT professionals and a new framework.
To achieve this, the water board contacted Novius, a Royal HaskoningDHV company, to help.
Using the Novius Architecture framework as a guideline, we worked with water authority Rivierenland to train and coach their team of IT architects on the best ways to build out a new architecture for the organisation.
We then worked together to design and build the new infrastructure, which will help the team use data more effectively for decision-making and future improvements to the water board’s service.
Water authority Rivierenland now has a data-focused, integrated architecture to carry its services into the future.
Its upskilled IT team is now more informed and adaptable, which means the organisation can respond quickly and effectively to changing requirements. It can also accelerate new IT projects, with a centralised framework for development and implementation.
