To nearly Zero-Energy Buildings in 5 steps
Royal HaskoningDHV's 5 step approach replaces the conventional Trias Energetica, emphasising the reduction of energy needs (no longer conditioning buildings, but users) and the exchange and storage of energy inside and outside buildings.
The major challenge is to create a stable system that is optimally regulated. Monitoring is essential to be able to accurately predict actual energy consumption. When transforming energy supplies within cities at district/neighbourhood level, we consider several scenarios: urbanisation, more buildings and population in a district/neighbourhood, changing functions, expansion and contraction of buildings, combining sustainable energy systems and optimising energy consumption by using smart systems.
In practice
We have now been able to prove that Royal HaskoningDHV's approach works in practice. We actively contribute to transforming buildings and districts through research and partnership projects.Some examples of energy saving projects by Royal HaskoningDHV include: Achmea Campus, Atrium MC Heerlen, Venlo council offices, Martini Hospital and the Royal HaskoningDHV head office.
