The project will prepare a strategy for flood and inundation management in HCMC and arrange for related capacity building activities and develop partnerships. In addition the project is expected to involve itself with related issues, such as urban planning, solid waste management, infrastructure development etc.
Long-term objectives: To contribute to alleviating the flooding and inundation problems of HCMC by proposing an integrated approach for flood and inundation management and strengthening technical and management capability of HCMC Steering Centre of Flood Control Program and relevant Vietnamese agencies.
The specific objectives:
- To prepare an integrated strategy and implementation plan on flood management in Ho Chi Minh City and the directly surrounding areas and identify funding sources from (inter)national and bilateral funding sources to execute the implementation plan.
- To strengthen technical and management capability of the Steering Centre of Flood Control Program in HCMC and Vietnamese relevant agencies.
- To develop partnerships and establish collaboration between Dutch and Vietnamese educational, scientific, water and environmental institutions and between governmental and non -governmental organization that are active in these fields and investigate opportunities for collaboration under ongoing programs for exchange of delta technology, climate change and water management.
