World Migratory Bird Day, a twice-annual celebration of migratory birds.
Right now, Sandwich Terns are arriving from as far afield as Africa to breed on Atlantic coasts. Scientists from Bureau Waardenburg and the British Trust for Ornithology have undertaken a tagging project on these spectacular birds, to understand their foraging behaviour and interactions with marine areas of offshore wind development.
Throughout this vital work, Royal HaskoningDHV has acted as an advisor to both the client and stakeholders, to ensure that objectives of the ornithological monitoring programme for the development are met.
The findings from this research are also feeding directly into the next generation of offshore wind assessments to ensure impacts on seabird species are minimised.
