It was a successful evening for Royal HaskoningDHV at the Maritime UK Awards on Thursday 19 September, with company employee Eslie Vrolijk winning the Rising Star award.
The Rising Star award celebrates promising young professionals in the industry, while Royal HaskoningDHV was also one of just three companies shortlisted for Employer of the Year.
These new industry awards took place as part of the Southampton Boat Show, bringing together leaders in the UK maritime industry. Royal HaskoningDHV has a strong presence in this sector as an engineering consultancy.
Eslie Vrolijk was delighted to be selected as the industry’s Rising Star. Eslie is an enthusiastic engineer who specialises in port master planning, logistics analyses and navigation studies. A strong team player, she has delivered many successful projects. Eslie is also co-chair of the Young Professionals Commission of PIANC (World Association for Waterborne transport Infrastructure).
Craig Huntbatch, Director Maritime & Aviation said: “It was a real honour to be a part of the inaugural Maritime UK awards. This is a thriving sector in the UK, as highlighted by the government having launched a long-term maritime strategy this year. We were pleased to have had our contribution as an employer recognised, in being shortlisted – and thrilled to see Eslie win the Rising Star award!”
Eslie Vrolijk said: “Receiving the award was fantastic. I was excited just to be nominated. It’s great to feel that your work is recognised and appreciated, but to have won was the icing on the cake. It was good to be part of such a high-profile industry event.”
