Civil constructions are increasingly playing an important role in rail projects. This can be in a wide range of situations: level crossings are becoming more dangerous due to increasing road and railway traffic, leading to their replacement with underpasses or road bridges; in railway stations, platform tunnels or traverses are being built to bring passengers safely to and from platforms; elsewhere, railway bridges and tunnels are needed for crossings over water, in urban areas and mountain regions.

Rail Structural Design

Royal HaskoningDHV has a strong understanding of the design, tendering and construction supervision of all types of civil constructions for rail networks and stations. We have gained in-depth experience of construction design, mechanical and electrical systems design and safety systems, working on large projects such as the five tunnels for the Dutch high speed rail link, the Delft railway tunnel and underground station and dive unders across the Dutch rail system.
