Rail upgrade and expansion projects are increasingly becoming interventions in existing rail networks and their surroundings. Integrated Design - seamlessly connecting the widely varying know-how required - has become a critical success factor of any rail project. Royal HaskoningDHV brings together experts from all disciplines to work as one team, ensuring a cohesive approach and the best integrated solutions for clients.
Our experience and expertise in Rail Integrated Design includes:
- Track and embedment
- Signaling and control systems
- Power supply and overhead catenary
- Civil constructions
- Network optimization (infrastructure, rolling stock and timetables)
- Railway stations
- Level crossings
- Project management
During the design process we develop solutions using Systems Engineering methodology, taking into account the needs of clients and other stakeholders and the constraints or opportunities presented by the surrounding environment.
The integral design is created by a team of specialists in a three-dimensional model, often using a BIM model (Building Information Model). This is also the basis for the verification of the system’s functional requirements, by measurement or by micro simulation of the network in action and passenger flows in stations.
