Allana’s potash project is comprised of four potash concessions located in north eastern Ethiopia – an area totalling 312 square kilometres. The large corporation is in the process of developing a potash mine within its concession areas.
Royal HaskoningDHV was appointed to perform a logistics stress test for the potash hauling operations using specialist software to model the reliability and robustness chain. This also helped to identify any weak links and opportunities for optimisation.
The project involved a multi-disciplinary team to study the integration of components in the pit-to-port logistics chain. Our team also helped to define the equipment needed for successful operations, and defined the stockyard requirements (at both the port and mine) and number of trucks, along with CAPEX and OPEX costs.
