The challenge

Finding suitable office space in Yangon is not an easy task especially one that complies with international standards.

Unilever Myanmar is a well established multi-national companies in Myanmar. Like many others, their previous headquarters was in a large house, at that time, modern office space was not available. Due to business requirements, Unilever decided to move to larger office but also wanted to implement its Agile working policy.Unilever then managed to find a suitable location office building but due to internal reason then Unilever only had limited time for the design and construction of the building.

Our solution

Royal HaskoningDHV’s first task was to perform a due diligence of the building. This was a challenging task due to the lack of implementation of international standards in Myanmar. This was followed by the interior design by Interior Architects 103(iA103). To meet the timeline, the design and tendering of the works were split into 2 phases.RHDHV had a team on site to make sure the project was completed on time in accordance with the design and standards.

The outcome

The new office comprises of 3 floors and complies with Unilever’s international standard while being complete within a short timeline. The construction of the top floor was completed within 6 weeks while the 2 floors below within 8 weeks.
