The Mollymook Beach Coastal Hazard Study identified the Blackwater Creek entrance as unstable that can contribute to storm erosion demand. Shoalhaven City Council engaged Royal HaskoningDHV to identify coastal erosion remediation options, and carry out environmental assessment/design of creek training and dune protection works.
The design included:
- a rock revetment and interim geotextile container structure to train the northern flank of the creek entrance; and,
- importing dredged sand from Lake Conjola to increase sand reserves and height of the dune immediately to the south of the creek.
