The Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO) is planning to build a new Crude Oil Storage Terminal in Ras Markaz, designed to provide a total gross storage capacity of up to 200 million barrels of crude oil, making it one of the largest oil storage facilities of this type in the world.

The project is extensive and involves the design, construction, and operation of offshore tanker loading and offloading facilities, onshore storage facilities and associated infrastructure, pipelines and roads.

Royal HaskoningDHV has been appointed to develop a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) package for Phase 1 of the Service Harbour before the start of E.P.C (Engineering, Procurement and Construction). As part of the project, the work currently being undertaken includes provisions for expansion and potential tie-in facilities for future phases of the build.

The facility is designed to handle the loading and offloading of crude oil to and from Suezmax, Very Large Crude Oil Carriers (VLCC) and Ultra Large Crude Oil Carriers (ULCC).
