Nishal Sooredoo, Principal Consultant for Ports at Ocean Shipping Consultants, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV, will talk about the ‘Trade outlook in the Black Sea and looking into increasing cargo traffic flow for ports’ at the 6th annual Black Sea Ports and Shipping conference taking place this week.

Nishal will be talking about the supply chain in this Eastern-European market along with future challenges and growth areas: “The Black Sea region is hugely important due to its strategic position for growth markets such as Georgia, Romania and Turkey.

“The sector is facing dual challenges of weaker demand and rising costs for terminal operators due to significant consolidation in the market. This results in larger vessels and increased cost pressure, leading to both shipping lines and terminal operators looking to consolidate terminal ownership. This is a recurring trend on all large trade routes and this topic will be one of the key issues at next week’s event,” concludes Nishal.

Offering global support to the maritime, ports and logistics industries, Royal HaskoningDHV and its maritime economic consultancy group, Ocean Shipping Consultants, is well placed to advise in this area.

From engineering services and financial modelling to full project reporting, Royal HaskoningDHV already has a large presence in this area with projects completed in the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean including several projects for the Taman Port in Russia, the Black Sea Grain Terminal, the Brooklyn Kiev Container Terminal and the Yuzhni Basin in Ukraine and Limassol Port in Cyprus.

Nishal Sooredoo’s presentation takes place on 18 May 2017 during the annual Container Ports and Terminal Operations Exhibition and Conference in the Black Sea region, ‘Black Sea Ports and Shipping’ which is held at the Sheraton Batumi Hotel in Georgia, 17-19 May 2017.
