Royal HaskoningDHV is starting a Living Lab to connect its building knowledge with technological innovations from start-ups. In the Living Lab innovations for smart and healthy environments will be tested in co-creation with clients. The development of the Living Lab and cooperation with start-ups is a result of the new company strategy launched in 2017 focusing on innovation and digital.
The market for smart buildings is growing rapidly and daily start-ups and mature industries are launching new technologies and solutions. Customers expect companies like Royal HaskoningDHV to find the best suited answer to their specific objectives and realise business impact. Therefore, a human-centric design approach for smart and healthy environments is implemented within the company. This approach starts with the user journey and guides towards relevant concepts and technologies that deliver business impact, for example an increase of employee engagement, productivity, better health of employees, positive impact on talent acquisition and cost efficiency of buildings.
“The Living Lab is a powerful tool to co-create around customer challenges and is part of our human-centric approach,” said Onno Willemse, Royal HaskoningDHV's Global Director Smart & Healthy environments: “This is a crucial step in our ambition to be the leader in performance management of smart and healthy environments. By taking the connected journey together with start-ups and clients, we co-create the best validated solutions making a positive impact on the people, their work environment and the business objectives of our clients.”
In the coming period the Living Lab will be used by Office App, Lone Rooftop, Octo, Hello Energy, Healthy Workers and Nuuka. Together with these start-ups Royal HaskoningDHV is developing new innovations by using the lean start-up methodology, aiming to make environments smarter, healthier and more sustainable. Such innovations will include sensory technologies, building analytics and analytics for people's health and happiness, engagement and work process efficiency.
The Living Lab will be located in Royal HaskoningDHV’s head office in Amersfoort. It is scheduled to open in October 2018 for clients to experience it themselves. Companies interested to participate in the Living Lab, please contact Vincent Flick.
