On November 22 and 23 the European Committee CEN/TC 250 ‘Structural Eurocodes’ will have its half yearly two-day meeting in the Netherlands. The structural eurocodes are the European standards specifying how structural design should be conducted within the European Union. The main subject of the meeting will be the renewal of the complete structural Eurocode series, with most important improvement aspects being ease of use, the reduction of national determined parameters and the implementation of the state of the art knowledge on the different subjects. The benefit will be more uniformity in the application of the codes, easier interaction between European countries and optimized structural designs.
On November 21 VNconstructeurs has organized a symposium on the renewal of the structural Eurocodes giving the practicing engineers a preliminary insight of the developments and the opportunity to interact with the chairmen of the most relevant parts of the Eurocode.
Royal HaskoningDHV is hosting this meeting and the symposium in its office in Amersfoort. Royal HaskoningDHV is active in Dutch Eurocode committees and our colleague Maurice Hermens participates in the board of the structural engineers’ professional organization VNconstructeurs.
