Royal HaskoningDHV’s Global Director Water Products & Innovation, René Noppeney is the winner of this year’s ranking of Global Water Leaders by Water and Wastewater International (WWi). A great recognition for the team responsible for the global roll out of the innovative Nereda® technology for wastewater treatment. Noppeney is a forerunner in the water market and WWi calls him a visible personality in the global water circuit whose style of leadership is paying off.
WWi Magazine's Top 25 Leaders list is globally recognised as the authoritative compilation of the key influencers in the international water industry. This year’s ranking includes another Dutch national: Professor Mark van Loosdrecht of Delft University of Technology, the inventor of the Nereda wastewater technology was also shortlisted and ranked number 3.
René Noppeney said: “It is awesome that our Nereda team actually won. Nereda is here to stay and it’s great that we’ve received such recognition. What’s really made a difference for us over the last few years is our conscious decision to not want to do this alone but to strive for a strong network of strategic partnerships. We are really proud that we have reached agreements for significant markets in the world. This notion of strategic partnerships is the key to our success.”
The Nereda technology started as a university R&D project in Delft was trialled by Dutch Water Authorities and has now been delivered to over 30 installations worldwide. For this year Noppeney predicts: “Our installed base will grow by at least 50%. In addition, Royal HaskoningDHV will continue to bring innovation around the Nereda technology to the market over the next years. Smart add-ons such as alginate recovery from sludge is an example of this.”
