Kick start by re-using granular sludge

The Nereda technology was implemented in two rectangular, completely covered concrete tanks, with a technical area on top of the tanks and a parking deck at the roof of this technical area. The work was completed mid-November 2015. Because Westfort immediately needed a good effluent quality granular sludge of the Nereda installation in Garmerwolde and of the pilot plant in Utrecht was used for the start-up. This approach proved to be successful from the first week. Royal HaskoningDHV is following the treatment process real time by using a tailor made AquaSuite® Nereda® Controller.
