Royal HaskoningDHV presented on (nearly) Zero Energy Hospital Buildings during the ASHRAE Summer Meeting in California. The project “nZEB Hospital Buildings” is executed in cooperation with the Eindhoven University of Technology and supported by TVVL and REHVA and now ASHREA confirmed its support in developing a guidebook.
The presentation and workshop addressed the project “nZEB Hospital Buildings” to give information and insight in nZEB developments that will occur in the near future and what the consequences of these developments are for hospital buildings and in particular for building services. Hospitals consume approximately 1% of the primary energy in the Built Environment. Majority of energy is used by the building and building services. The study considers future scenarios of required building performances, functions/usage of the buildings, technological innovations and business case parameters.
Both seminar 47 and the interactive session workshop 9 were well attended and received by the audience. Read for more information on seminar 47 (page 59) and workshop 9 (page 72) the long beach program book.
During the meeting ASHRAE’s support to the guidebook was given, which is greatly appreciated. Additionally more than 5 international experts are willing to submit a paper for the October 2017 REHVA Journal on nZEB Hospital Buildings and contribute to the development of the ASHRAE-REHVA-TVVL nZEB Hospital Building Guidebook.
