Indonesia with its vast territorial waters can start considering immersed tunnel system, watertight tunnel built underwater, as an alternative when making a bridge.

The Ministry of Public Works has proposed the use of immersed tunnel for the Musi III Bridge Construction in Palembang. Hediyanto, Chief of BP Konstruksi stated "The price is still relatively expensive at the moment as it is still the only project application of immersed tunnel system. But once there are more projects, the cost will be cheaper and more efficient."
