About Nereda® Tijuco Preto plant in Sumaré, Brazil

A new site has been selected for the latest Nereda plant in the state of Sao Paulo. Located at Tijuco Preto, the new municipal wastewater treatment plant will be the 7th plant to use Nereda technology in Brazil. Climatic conditions in Brazil are very favourable for biological sewage treatment but the country’s rapid rate of urbanisation means that the wastewater infrastructure has not kept pace with the rapid increase in urban population. As a result, water quality in the region is under significant threat from untreated discharge. The new Nereda plant will significantly reduce the flow of untreated wastewater to nearby rivers, reducing the risk to public health as well as helping to meet more stringent water quality legislation standards.
