As design manager, Royal HaskoningDHV is in control of the construction process in this stage. We act on behalf of our client and lead the design team, which includes the architect and all other specialists and consultants in various areas (eg. structural engineering, mechanical engineering, building physics, cost management). We ensure that the requirements of our client are met, that the focus stays on the end result and that the result of the design stage meets the expectations and matches the ambitions.
The whole process of design, build, maintain and operate of buildings is increasingly put in the market on the basis of demand specifications, functional specifications, systems engineering (SE) and key performance indicators (KPI’s). This gives a different way of working and a different end result in the design stage. Royal HaskoningDHV offers the expertise in this changing market environment to support our clients on an adequate basis.
In our philosophy, Value Creation has a prominent place in the design process next to project control. These so-called Value Creating Processes in our project management and design management system ensure that all aspects that can add value to the project result are explicitly monitored during the design process. For this we use tools as VDC/BIM. We have an internal Knowledge Group of design managers who are specifically trained and certificated in Virtual Design & Construct, which in close combination with BIM (Building Information Model) gives the design process and extra boost. For this process we can also use one of our (mobile) iRooms.
