Mechanical Engineer

Main Responsibilities:
Design and specification of mechanical aspects and equipment of pump stations, water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities
Involved in the fabrication, installation, integration and testing and commissioning of M&E components in projects to ensure successful completion of each project within quality, programme, timing and budget
Focused client liaison as part of the project team
Work as part of the project team on water treatment, wastewater treatment, bulk infrastructure and reticulation projects
Ensure that all quality system procedures are followed in the production of design data and the issuing of drawings and standard details.
Responsible for day to day contract Administration of Mechanical works
Ensure co-ordination and records of all documents and Certificates of all work done on site for the project is maintained and submitted.
Measurement and certification of correct payment for contractors

Outputs
Engineering design
Preparation of engineering design specifications including performance specifications
Review of drawings prepared by contractors, manufacturers and suppliers
Preparations of contract documents
Contract administration and office-based supervision
Client relationship management

Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:
BSc/BTech Mechanical Engineering
Professional registration with ECSA
Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in pumps, pump stations and mechanical equipment relating to all aspects of water and wastewater treatment plants, conveyance of bulk water and wastewater streams on all related projects
Experience and knowledge of water treatment and wastewater treatment plants with regard to its mechanical and electrical equipment and components
Experience with FIDIC and NEC contracts
Experience with contract administration and claim assessment
