We are looking for a dynamic individual with a genuine enthusiasm for Transport Planning to work in our Birmingham office. Our Transport teams undertake strategic planning work, providing advice to private and public sector clients on a wide range of interesting transport and development planning projects across the UK. The role demands a proactive approach in a team environment and offers substantial opportunity for career progression within the company.

Principal Transport Planners are expected to be technically competent in advising on transport matters in all types of development planning projects, as well as other projects promoting schemes in the built environment. They need to be able to manage people and projects and to be a credible advisor to our clients and project stakeholders.  In particular they are expected to be able to manage project teams and undertake the day to day Client liaison and management on projects.

They will be expected to be able to identify business opportunities and to communicate these to and discuss these with the Director as well as assist in realising these. They will contribute towards the technical excellence of the team and can expect considerable experience on a variety of interesting and challenging projects.

Key areas of work: 

·       Management and production of technical feasibility studies, Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
·       Providing technical advice to clients across a range of sectors on transport considerations
·       Managing other transport projects as these arise and ensuring outputs are delivered on time and within agreed budget
·       Project manage medium sized transport projects, or small multi-disciplinary projects
·       Knowledge of analytical software programs such as ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT, the TRICS database and MS OFFICE
·       Developing innovative transport solutions to serve and benefit Clients
·       Inspiring less experienced staff to develop innovative transport solutions to serve and benefit Clients
·       Proactively contributing to the technical development of the transport function in the UK 
·       Providing technical support and advice within Transport UK in order to:
-       Develop the technical skills of junior staff; and
-       Ensure consistency in technical quality from junior staff
·       Commercial and technical management of projects ensuring that projects are managed effectively within budgetary constraints 
·       The day-to-day management of other members of the transport planning team working on projects
·       The day-to-day management of other disciplines within the Royal Haskoning DHV group working on projects
·       Identification of business opportunities
·       Preparation of fee proposals

As Royal HaskoningDHV operate projects with a BIM approach, you are expected to be aware of the UK BIM framework (previously known as BIM Level 2), your role within it and ideally have practical experience.  If this is not the case, you will be expected to undertake the relevant training courses via our Digital Academy within your first 3 months of employment should you be successful.
