Ben Patterson is a Principal Civil / Water Resources Engineer working with Royal HaskoningDHV with over 28 years of experience in Australia and Internationally in the investigation, planning, design and construction supervision of resilience management, particularly in relation to flood resilience and water resources management. This has included major flood alleviation schemes, as well as transport, civil, urban development, and mining projects including extensive experience in catchment, surface water and floodplain management. Ben also has extensive experience in the design and implementation of flood forecasting systems, including real time and predictive modelling.
Ben has technical expertise in water quality, hydrological and hydraulic investigation, and design. This has included the preparation of surface water management plans, flood studies, flood impact assessments, flood protection designs, drainage system analysis and detailed design documentation, and river and coastal engineering and bank stabilisation works.
Ben also has significant experience in project management for a range of major engineering projects, including dams, levees, stream restoration works, mine development, coal seam gas exploration and production, resource infrastructure such as rail and port infrastructure, transport (highways and rail), residential and industrial development.
Ben has extensive experience in dealing with statutory and stakeholder authorities as well as the preparation of Planning and Approvals Documentation (ESIAs).
Ben also has experience as an expert witness in a number of matters relating to flooding and stormwater management.
