Steve Magenis, a Business Development Director for water within Royal HaskoningDHV, has been appointed to the board of Opportunity Peterborough, the economic development company responsible for attracting inward investment into the city of Peterborough.
Steve is a well-known face within Peterborough’s business community, having held the position of Chairman of Peterborough Environment City Trust for the past eight years. He also worked with Opportunity Peterborough and fellow Royal HaskoningDHV colleagues on the ‘Peterborough Model’, a visual collaboration tool, using it to secure £3million in funding from the Technology Strategy Board (now Innovate UK) in 2013 to develop ‘smart’ initiatives in the city. The resulting projects led to Peterborough being named World Smart City 2015.
Speaking about his appointment Steve said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the board at Opportunity Peterborough and look forward to tackling the challenges that lay ahead for the city, so that the great economic development we’ve seen in recent years can continue.“From a Royal HaskoningDHV perspective, this is a great opportunity to help an organisation that is central to Peterborough’s future. We are a global company but I think it’s in keeping with our core values that we support our local communities too when we can.”
